Course Overview
This course reviews the principles of managing abnormal and emergency situations in flight operations. It focuses on aircraft control, prioritization, checklist use, communication, crew coordination, decision-making, and practical strategies for maintaining safety during high-workload and time-critical events.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, the trainee should be able to:
- Recognize common aircraft emergency situations and the immediate actions they may require
- Apply appropriate crew coordination, communication, and workload management during an emergency
- Identify the priorities of maintaining aircraft control, assessing the situation, and selecting an appropriate course of action
- Use aircraft checklists and emergency procedures effectively without losing situational awareness
- Recognize when an evacuation or emergency landing may be required and apply the appropriate considerations
- Describe appropriate actions following an emergency, including securing the aircraft, assisting occupants, and reporting the event
