Course Overview

Fatigue Management introduces aviation personnel to the risks of fatigue, reduced alertness, and performance degradation in operational environments.

This course explains how sleep, circadian rhythm, workload, scheduling, and personal factors can affect decision-making, communication, situational awareness, and overall safety. It also provides practical strategies for recognizing and managing fatigue before it becomes a safety concern.

This training is intended for pilots, crew members, dispatchers, managers, and other aviation personnel who may be affected by fatigue during aviation operations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, the trainee should be able to:

  • Explain how fatigue affects alertness, judgement, reaction time, and operational performance
  • Recognize common causes and warning signs of fatigue in aviation operations
  • Describe the effects of sleep loss, circadian rhythms, workload, and time-zone changes on performance
  • Apply practical strategies to reduce fatigue risk before and during duty periods
  • Recognize when fatigue may compromise safe performance and appropriate action is required
