Course Overview
Human Factors for Maintenance examines how human performance, workplace conditions, communication, fatigue, organizational influences, and decision-making affect aircraft maintenance safety.
The course focuses on recognizing conditions that increase the likelihood of maintenance error, applying practical error-management strategies, improving communication and shift handovers, and creating a workplace in which hazards and mistakes can be identified before they affect an aircraft.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, the trainee should be able to:
- Recognize common human-performance limitations that contribute to maintenance error
- Identify workplace conditions that increase the likelihood of maintenance error
- Recognize the effects of fatigue, stress, distraction and complacency
- Apply effective communication and shift-handover practices
- Use practical defences to reduce the risk of maintenance error
- Recognize how organizational and safety culture influences maintenance performance
